The A Lister picked the wrong time to goad the GM.
Miz picked the wrong time to mouth off to Kurt Angle.
When Miz, Curtis Axel, and a returning Bo Dallas rolled in late in their limo, Kurt Angle was waiting, fresh off a chewing out courtesy of a returning Stephanie McMahon. So Kurt wasn’t having it when Miz started running his mouth. The General Manager made Miz defend his Intercontinental title on Raw tonight (Oct. 30).
Who did the General Manager tap to face the Miz? Matt Hardy.
Matt Hardy was extremely game for the match. Hardy withstood early interference by the Miztourage to really turn it on, including actually hitting his top rope moonsault.
However, when Matt delivered the Twist of Fate, Miz was able to roll out to the apron. Hardy tried to grab the A Lister to bring him back in, but Miz pulled Matt’s head against the top rope and followed up with a Skull Crushing Finale for the win.
Tonight, Miz’s mouth may have gotten him in trouble, but it was a check his ass was able to cash. And as of now, he’s still schedule to face Baron Corbin at Survivor Series.

Wait, did Rae just say “plenty of time left in 2017 to make an impact”? Could it be?
The only thing that could add anymore shock value to WWE’s surprise releases would be if anyone of these three wrestlers jumped ship to Impact Wrestling. Crazy things happen all the time in pro wrestling, but seeing Summer Rae on the Impact airwaves would take the proverbial cake and smash it everyone’s face.

More Details on Plans for Roman Reigns’ WWE Return
As we noted earlier today, WWE star Roman Reigns, who is currently off TV as he is recovering from illness, is not backstage at WWE Raw tonight. Furthermore, Reign is not expected to be on the WWE European tour which kicks off after TV this week.
According to F4WOnline.com, Reigns is currently penciled in to return to WWE TV on the November 13th edition of WWE Raw, and in time for final build to WWE Survivor Series. As we noted earlier tonight, the current plan is for Reigns to be part of Team Raw in the elimination tag team match at the PPV.
According to PWInsider.com, if the two talents do end up signing with Impact, they could debut as early as the post-Bound for Glory TV tapings. Rumored plans for Callihan include him possibly debuting alongside oVe.
Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed Rockstar Spud is no longer with Impact Wrestling and we’re told his release was done at the wrestler’s request.
PWInsider first reported on his exit from the company this morning and we’re told his choice to ask for a release wasn’t done out of ill will. It was merely a business decision.
Spud started with Impact in 2012 after winning the first season of their British Boot Camp series and became Dixie Carter‘s “chief of staff.” He went on to have a memorable feud with Ethan Carter III that ended in a hair vs hair match.
His last match for the company was a Street Fight against Swoggle in May.
No word on what the wrestler has lined up for the future.

PWInsider.com is now reporting Rockstar Spud has officially been released from Impact Wrestling. His release was granted about 2-3 weeks ago, and he had not appeared on Impact Wrestling TV since this past April.
Spud, who was the winner of a TNA British Bootcamp competition, signed with Impact back in 2013.
According to Squared Circle Sirens, a big return is expected on WWE Raw tonight, which will impact plans for Survivor Series next month.

You have to respect Bobby Lashley. In world filled with people wanting to crush your dreams, Lashley is going after the biggest and maybe the most unrealistic fish in the pond.
It’s 2017 and Lashley still wants a mixed martial arts fight with Brock Lesnar.
Speaking with Hannibal TV, Lashley was asked when will the pro wrestling world get to see him fight Lesnar in MMA.
“It’s not on me, it’s on him. I’m not the type to call people out. I have mad respect for Brock and I have mad respect for everybody in the fight business and in the wrestling business. But I think it’s just one of those things that needs to be done.”
Lashley would add
“There’s big matchups all the way across the board. They looked at Brock fighting Jon Jones, that was one thing that was talked about, everybody was like, ‘Oh, that’s awesome!’ Floyd Mayweather fighting Conor [McGregor], these are different matchups that people want to see. I think right now people are starting to move more into that entertainment aspect of wanting to see those different contests and different matchups. Brock and myself, whether it’s in professional wrestling or whether it’s in a fight, I think it needs to be done.”
Then Lashley would end his call-out with a kind-of, sort-of prediction on how a fight would play out between him and Lesnar.
“Until the fight happens, no one knows. I think I would do well. I think our styles are very similar and I think it’s gonna be tit-for-tat in a lot of ways.”
By the time Lashley had his second professional MMA fight way back in 2008, Lesnar was already an UFC heavyweight champion. Fast forward nine years later, Lashley is 41 years old and Lesnar is 40 years old.
Will this fight ever happen? Does Bobby Lashley stand any type of chance in a MMA versus Brock Lesnar? No matter what your answers are it will not stop Lashley from endlessly chasing a big money Lesnar fight from now until the end of time.
As we noted moments ago, Alexa Bliss vs Mickie James and Finn Balor vs Cesaro are both matches expected to take place on WWE Raw tonight.
PWInisder.com is now reporting Seth Rollins vs Kane and Bayley vs Alicia Fox are also set to take place tonight.

What was your reaction when you heard that Kurt Angle would be returning, and he’d be one of your opponents?
“Selfishly, I was very happy about it. I was a big fan of Kurt Angle when I was growing up. Actually, his book is a big part of the reason that I work out so hard. I thought I was working out pretty hard myself when I was younger, and then I read his book and realized that I needed to step it up, at least a little bit. I knew I may not be able to match his output, but I was going to try my hardest. He had a big influence on me and it was pretty awesome to be in the ring with him in his WWE return.”
While Sunday was crazy, you’ve had a number of wild pay-per-view matches lately. Last month, as you were wrestling Ambrose and Rollins, you took a blow to the mouth and ended up having our teeth jammed upwards. What went through your head as that happened?
“Well, the first thing that went through my head was, “Ow, that really hurt.” There was a lot of blood. Then, the doctor came over and checked on me. I said that I was all right. He was ready to look for the teeth around the ring, but I had to tell him that no, they were in there, just up higher. That was not a pleasant experience.”
OK, I gotta ask about the slogan. Did Ford steal it for their new F-150 campaign?
“We said it first! We said it first! There must be a WWE fan at Ford. That person needs to get in touch with WWE to get us in those commercials! We’ve been saying that for over six months, and now they’re using that for the F-150? Maybe we need to look into that with a copyright lawyer. It is pretty cool, though, that wrestling is becoming more and more mainstream, and stuff like that happens. This could be a coincidence, but I’d like to think that someone at Ford saw me and Sheamus and thought, “Those are two cool guys with a cool slogan.””
Impact Wrestling star KM recently appeared on Interactive Wrestling Radio, which you can listen to in full at this link. Below are some interview highlights.
On his plans for Bound for Glory:
“Well, I will be there. But, I will not be accompanying Sienna to ringside. She does not need me to beat 2, or 3, or 4, or 5 of the Impact Knockouts. I will be watching as my cousin, just like me, stays undefeated. Yes, we are undefeated. Don’t go looking at the tapes or old footage or the new app (Global Wrestling Network). We’re undefeated. I wouldn’t lie to you.”
On appearing on the CBS Sitcom Kevin Can Wait:
“I was just trying to, I don’t know, dip my feet into some puddles outside of wrestling. I’ve been in it (wrestling) for 18 years now. I’m by far the biggest star that Impact has – We’re both in agreement with that one. I’m undefeated. I’m the un-crowned champion. Ever since I came aboard of Impact Wrestling this past March, TV ratings have been through the roof. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to know that my phone has been ringing off the hook over the past couple of months. Kevin James… I don’t know, maybe the ratings have been struggling on CBS over the past couple of months. Kevin James is not as big of a star as KM. They needed a little star power on the show. “We see what you’re doing over at Impact Wrestling. We see you’re bringing the ratings through the roof. We need help, KM!” So, I got on the next plane. The rest is history. That is exactly how that (Kevin Can Wait) happened.”
On his experience during the filming of The Wrestler:
“Well, here’s how that came about. Mickey Rourke’s career was kind of hanging in the balance. He wasn’t really going anywhere. He was kind of in a stand-still. Mickey Rourke called me up one day. Mickie Rourke said, “Hey, I’m doing this movie and I don’t think it is going to do too well. I do not have the star power on my own to make this a hit. I need you on board. I need you to make this a hit.” I’m good buddies with Mickey Rourke so I said “Yeah, I’ll help you out.” I came on board. Yeah, don’t worry. I was in it. I’m in the credits and everything. I was in it. You probably fell asleep. I was featured for probably about 45 minutes straight. The movie ended up winning lots of awards. I have a whole bunch sitting on top of my TV. That’s exactly how that happened.”
There’s been a lot of chatter backstage at Raw in Baltimore today (Oct. 30), which is probably to be expected considering folks are coming and going, ahead of an international tour, which is scheduled smack in the middle of a big inter-brand storyline for the ‘Big 4’ pay-per-view (PPV) that’s coming up in just a few weeks.
If you want to catch up on who’s at Royal Farms Arena and might be appearing on the show tonight, click here. Or, for the latest on a certain large canine who won’t be on Raw or headed to Europe, click here.
In addition to all that, however, PWInsider also has their usual word on some matches and storyline advances currently planned for tonight. Spoilers follow, unless plans change. Then they’re rumors.
Alexa Bliss will defend her Women’s title against Mickie James in a TLC rematch.
Fresh off a controversial won over Finn Bálor, Kane faces Seth Rollins.
Speaking of Bálor, he’ll look to get back on the horse against Cesaro in what should be a really good match (if nobody interferes).
Bayley vs. Alicia Fox “is also currently figured into tonight’s broadcast”. Which sounds a little more tenuous than the other ones, but what do I know?
Which of these will come to pass? Find out along with your fellow Cagesiders in tonight’s live blog!
Survivor Series is coming up on us fast and there are some new developments of what fans can expect at the annual November Big Four pay-per-view event. Backstage News on Planned Raw Matches
PWInsider.com is reporting Alexa Bliss vs Mickie James in a WWE TLC Title rematch is currently scheduled to take place on Raw tonight. Finn Balor vs Cesaro is also currently planned for the show.
Impact Announcer On Why He’s Missing BFG
As noted, Impact Wrestling announcer Dave Penzer will not be at Bound for Glory taking place in Ottawa next weekend. Hannibal TV recently released a new video, featuring Penzer explaining he will not be at Ottawa as his deal with Impact was only for him to appear at the last set of Orlando TV tapings. Penzer added he is still with Impact, but will not be attending the BFG tapings:
Kurt Angle was rushed into service when Roman Reigns was diagnosed with a viral infection and ruled out for The Shield’s planned comeback match at TLC. But the Hall of Famer was likely going to wrestle for WWE eventually. Did the trippy/cool moment where he emerged with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins wearing black tactical gear deprive of us a bigger moment, or just delay it?
We did get to hear Our Olympic Hero’s iconic entrance theme a little later in the evening, but we still haven’t had a chance to really lean into a “You Suck” chant. And we haven’t seen Angle in his signature singlet.
But this Instagram from yesterday (Oct. 29) indicates that’s coming, which likely also means a proper entrance – and possibly a singles match, maybe even at the end of a feud! – will come with it:
As previously noted, tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw is the last show before everyone flies out to Europe for the UK tour. I believe they’ll be flying out immediately after the show. Courtesy of PWInsider, here is what is scheduled for tonight (note: this is considered a spoiler post because none of this has […]
The Shield Recalls Their WWE Debut, NXT Stars Transitioning to Main Roster (Videos)
Tonight, a new edition of “Table for 3” will air on WWE Network immediately following WWE Raw.
The episode will feature Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, The Shield, having dinner and discussing their careers. WWE has released the preview below, and it features the group recalling their main roster debut, and discussing how NXT helps gives talents a head start on transitioning to the main roster in WWE.
Dean Ambrose notes in the video that the WWE Universe is given an opportunity to get to know talents in NXT, so they are familiar with them when they eventually make their Raw or Smackdown debuts. Roman Reigns then talks about the three of them being able to build the look of The Shield coming up together in NXT:
Ronda Rousey’s New Body Paint Photoshoot
Sports Illustrated recently released a video featuring a look at a new body paint photoshoot with Ronda Rousey, and you can check it out below:
PWInsider has revealed a number of spoilers ahead of tonight’s live broadcast from Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. Bray Wyatt is backstage at tonight’s show and is cleared to return to action following a viral infection. Roman Reigns, however, has not been medically cleared yet so he won’t be at tonight’s Raw or
Earlier today it was reported by PWInsider.com that Roman Reigns would not be on tonight’s episode of WWE Raw nor would he be participating in the upcoming European tour due to the recent outbreak of illnesses that benched him, Bray Wyatt, Bo Dallas and ring announcer JoJo.
It’s now being reported that Bray Wyatt is actually backstage for tonight’s Raw in Baltimore, and has been cleared to return by doctors. No update on his brother Bo or alleged romantic partner JoJo, but we could be seeing the “Eater of Worlds” back on television as soon as tonight.
Strowman Returning on Raw?
PWInsider is also noting that Braun Strowman is backstage for Raw as well. The “Monster Among Men” was never injured, just kept off television for a week after being literally murdered by a garbage truck at WWE TLC. Only in this business…
It’s been speculated that Strowman may be added to Team Raw to beef up their team in the battle against Smackdown, although he still has unfinished business with Kane following their brawl at last week’s pay-per-view.
Ring Rust Radio: This is the fifth season of Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge, which last year averaged more than four million weekly viewers. What can fans who have never seen the program expect when tuning in?
Steve Austin: It’s just bad-ass competition. It’s very simple, very basic, very strenuous, very hard and in a tough environment. Basically, we film this on top of a mountain in the desert right outside Los Angeles. Everything we are using from boulders to barrels to logs, there’s no scientific nothing out there. It’s bracket-style competition. Eight athletes come out each week through three rounds of competition and you either win or you lose. If you win, you go on, and if you lose, you go home. At the end of the day, out of eight competitors, one will be left standing. That competitor will come back the next day and run my obstacle course and it’s called the Skull Buster. It’s a half mile course with ten obstacles standing in your way. If you can beat a bench-mark time, you get $10,000 and remain there until someone can dethrone you. It is a very simple formula to understand. If you have never seen it before, you can tune in and understand exactly what is going down. What is going down is extreme, hardcore, physical competition. There ain’t no reality, the only reality out there is you either are going to win or lose, it is a challenge show.
Ring Rust Radio: Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge has built quite a fanbase since its debut. Did you expect the show to take off the way it has and how many more seasons do you think you have in you?
Steve Austin: Man, I love doing the show. I love being outdoors, I love competition and I love to be able to help motivate people to push their bodies and their minds to the absolute limit. I am never bored out there and I am having a great time. I’m not out there trash talking or cutting promos like I did in the wrestling business. I am out there trying to motivate some of the best athletes in the United States of America; there is a big difference there. So, it’s fun being around such driven people that are pushing themselves so hard. I was hoping, and in anything you do you want to have some confidence and want to believe in yourself, but at the end of the day it’s up to the people who watch and if the product is good enough. So far, it has been and I would love to keep doing this for as long as we can. As long as we can keep making this thing challenging for the athletes so that they want to come out and get their challenges met and see how tough they really are. If people are still interested in the show, I would love to keep doing it for a long time.
Ring Rust Radio: It obviously takes an incredible athlete to be able to conquer the Broken Skull Challenge. From your perspective as the host of the show and a WWE Hall of Famer, how do the top Broken Skull Challenge competitors compare to WWE Superstars in terms of their athleticism?
Steve Austin: In many ways, the athleticism, because this people are training specifically for these tasks and what I am asking them to do. Whether they are coming from the world of Cross Fit, Spartan Race, obstacle course racing, they are training specifically for these types of events. We will shake it up so they never know what we are throwing at them. The guys and gals in the squared circle these days, and I’ll speak of WWE because that’s where I spent the bulk of my career and that’s where I am from and who I am basically with, man those athletes there are off the charts from the generation that I came up. They are outstanding athletes in their own rights. They are extremely tough athletes in their own right. Living that road schedule, getting in that ring every single night, pushing their bodies to the limit in the ring, and then stepping into the gym to stay in tune with what they do. They aren’t training to come out and do what I do, but if you put the athletes from the Broken Skull into a squared circle and have a match, they wouldn’t be able to do it. The athleticism I would say is equal, but both parties are training for uniquely and specifically different endeavors.
Ring Rust Radio: For the Steve Austin Show on Podcast One, you have to watch the WWE product as much as you can. Who are some of the current Superstars that get Stone Cold excited when they show up on TV?
Steve Austin: You know what, I watch as much as I can. I DVR the show just to fast-forward through the commercials. It’s hard to watch because three hours of Raw every Monday and then two hours of SmackDown, but because I am still involved with the business, I try to watch as much as I can. Brock Lesnar is an absolute beast. I enjoy watching him and seeing what AJ Styles is up to next. Waiting to see if Finn Balor will continue to find his way. Waiting to see what they will end up doing with Shinsuke Nakamura and give him a green light push with that great background he brings from New Japan Pro-Wrestling. With the women’s division, their athleticism is just off the charts now. They have been main eventing Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and pay-per-views. I like the entire product and it has changed a lot since I have been gone. It’s sped up a lot since I have been gone. It’s a different world. So, when I watch with the old school mentality that I have, I have to try to lose myself in it and suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride.
Ring Rust Radio: There’s been a lot of rumors and speculation recently surrounding Neville about him walking out on WWE due to creative differences and/or unhappiness regarding his pay. Having been in a similar situation before yourself, what advice would you give Neville if he has, in fact, decided to leave WWE?
Steve Austin: Well, my situation when I walked out, I wasn’t on board with the direction creative wanted to go. I was working my ass off and I just was not happy with that decision. So, I could have made a better decision with how I handled it. Just walking away like I did was a bad idea. I don’t know specifically what Neville’s business deal is or what his contract is or the circumstances under which he left. I know that any time you walk away from something and you don’t have that meeting or that one-on-one time with Vince or Paul or whoever it may be, but that’s the most prudent decision to make. By the same token, I can respect the guy that has enough balls to walk away just because he had a gut feeling like I did. I just wish him all the best in the world. In my opinion, he is an outstanding talent, he was really coming around with his gimmick and character, and he was a guy that I really liked watching. I’m sure a lot of people in the WWE Universe fell the same way. Hopefully he gets past this and whether he goes back to WWE or goes somewhere else, I hope he continues to have a successful career and have fun. At the end of the day, pro-wrestling, to be able to get paid to do that, it’s a fun job but it is a business and you need to get paid accordingly. I want the kid to have a great career, make his money and go on to the next phase of his life when it’s time to do that.
Ring Rust Radio: Recently we lost one of the greatest wrestling personalities ever, Bobby The Brain Heenan. What was your relationship like with Heenan and what are your thoughts on the legendary commentator and manager?
Steve Austin: I barely knew Bobby because he was a generation and half before me. I was a huge fan because I was watching WWF back in the day. Watching his commentary with Gorilla Monsoon, his interactions with Vince or whoever it was, that guy was absolute gold on the microphone, a premier entertainer. If he had to put on the tights to wrestle or put on that weasel outfit, the guy knew how to entertain people. If he hadn’t gotten into the pro-wrestling business, he would have been a stand-up comedian or something, Bobby was going to be successful in whatever he did because that’s how talented he was. A lot of times, when you are on the road and sitting around at the show, one of our agents was Blackjack Lanza. Blackjack is in the Hall of Fame and he is a great story teller. He and Bobby used to travel together back in the day. A bunch of guys and myself would be gathered around Blackjack while he is telling Bobby Heenan stories. Whether they were at the bar doing this or that, the shenanigans they got involved in, so I felt like I knew Bobby a lot more than I did just because I heard so many stories from Blackjack. The guy was a premiere, Grade A, awesome performer. I loved it, I didn’t know him, but I loved it.
Ring Rust Radio: One of your peers, Kurt Angle, made his in-ring return to WWE on Sunday at TLC, wrestling in his first match for the company in 11 years. As someone who worked with Kurt on numerous occasions, where do you place him among the all-time greats, and what would you like to see WWE do with him now that he’s back in the fold as a wrestler?
Steve Austin: I don’t know what I want them to do with him because I don’t know Kurt’s physical capacity with what he can do in the squared circle from a performers stand point. As far as I would rank him as an all-time great, with what he can do in the ring and character standpoint, let’s talk about his in-ring work: off the charts. When this guy came in, I know he won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics, he comes in to the company and I see this raw talent. He is having these fast-paced wrestling matches, and I was like, holy smokes, this guy is catching onto this like no one I have ever seen in my life. So as a performer, so far ahead of his time and probably the fastest guy in the history of the business to pick it up at the level he picked it up at and just lights out. It didn’t matter who he was getting in the ring with, anybody who got in the ring with him they got a chance to steal the show. His work ethic and desire to be the best was among the highest I have ever known in the history of that business. As a character and persona, some of the backstage stuff we were doing because he was injured and I had three broken bones in my lower back, that comedy stuff we did was mostly adlibbed. The guy was a once in a generation talent. I love him as a person and I love his work in the ring. He was an absolute, true warrior and a bad ass in that ring. Not everybody can keep up with him.
Ring Rust Radio: You have been adamant that you will not return to in-ring competition, but when you see contemporaries like Kurt Angle, Shane McMahon and others making an impact on the product today, do you ever get that itch to be in front of the WWE Universe again?
Steve Austin: No, man. I got a fire in my belly for the business because I love pro-wrestling. I have zero desire to ever try to get back in the ring. I have so many great memories and I look back on those times fondly. It’s the young guy’s time to shine and I am enjoying seeing what they are coming up with. I like seeing the old school guys like myself still in there and doing their thing. When people decide to step away from the ring like I did or the guys that decide to step back in, it’s on a case-by-case, person-by-person basis. Some guys just like to hang on for as long as they can. For a while there, I didn’t understand why guys would do that. When I really thought about it, it’s because they love being in that god-dang ring so much that they just can’t get away from it. I had that neck injury and I needed to get out of the business so I did. I can understand that mindset now. I am done, I am happy being done, I wish I could of stayed in the ring a little bit longer, I rode off into the sunset a little bit sooner rather than I would of like, but it is what it is. I have come to terms with that and I have moved down the road. I am still a fan of the business and watching the men and women do what they do in the business and on Raw and SmackDown and the pay-per-views on the network.
Last week on Raw, General Manager Kurt Angle announced that this year’s Survivor Series pay-per-view will feature head-to-head matches of the respective world, midcard, women’s, and tag team champions from Raw and SmackDown Live. As of now, a couple of the scheduled matches feature two heels competing against each other. These matches include Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. United States Champion […]
The World According To Wrestling podcast launched its final episode of the series this week and explores the wrestling writer’s room with guests former WWE writer Court Bauer, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Ryan Satin and Brad Maddox.
Court Bauer on whether fans still blame “creative”: “I think less now because people are more aware of the process and who ultimately is guiding it. It’s not even a Stephanie Levesque thing, it’s not a Paul Levesque thing, it’s a Vince McMahon thing. There’s so many great directors that have done great movies like Martin Scorsese but he also did Shutter Island which I thought was terrible so, you know, Vince is not bulletproof. He is the showrunner. He is guiding us. He is micromanaging us. He is approving most segments. He is sitting in every meeting. He’s not idly phoning it in. He is very much still hands-on, proactive with his sleeves rolled up producing and overseeing every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night. I think people are more aware of that. So, the scrutiny isn’t what it once was. You know I really don’t see anyone going “Oh those fucking writers”. If they’re going to be negative and condemn something I see it’s on Vince now more than the writers. I don’t see the writers getting it like they used to.”
Brad Maddox on what he would do if he had a second chance: “If I had to do it again I would have gone to Vince from day one and said “Hi. I’m Brad Maddox. Do you know who I am? Do you know about my experience? Do you know I have been in your company for three years now and I’m a trained wrestler?” I would have communicated better and I would’ve taken my own career into my own hands instead of hoping or thinking that the writers were going to do my job for me.”
Ryan Satin on the most compelling storylines in wrestling: “I think when you blur the lines between reality and fiction and you as a viewer watching are not sure if it’s real or fake…then that’s when WWE has done their job. Those are the ones where you remember them forever and I personally feel like they’re not doing it enough. If I was a writer and I was working for WWE. That would literally be all I was pitching.”
Chavo Guerrero on whether any GLOW actors could move into wrestling: “Everyone of those actresses I could train to have an actual match, a “Wrestlemania moment” if you want to call it. 100 per cent. I love everyone of them. They were in the ring everydayand everyone of them was so good. Alison Brie is an athlete that didn’t know she was an athlete. She’s always done theatre and that kind of stuff and maybe a little sport as a kid. Coming into the ring, everyone had their reservations but once you showed them how strong they were and how athletic everyone actually really is, they felt empowered to do things they never thought they could do. There were times where they said “Thank you, we never knew we had that in us”. To me, I’d work with everyone of these girls, I loved every one of them.”
Episode 6 of The World According to Wrestling is out now. The second season is available now on iTunes and all other podcasting platforms.
WWE has confirmed that Roman Reigns is not cleared from his illness and will not be appearing on the upcoming European tour. WWE was already planning ahead on Friday when they announced that Triple H would be wrestling on the tour. Reigns was not mentioned but it’s clear that Triple H was added as a […]
The Young Bucks, The Addiction and Bad Luck Fale took part in a panel moderated by Wrestling Sheet Radio at Stan Lee’s Comic Con this weekend — and we’ve got the full video for you.
It all went down Sunday at the L.A. Convention Center on, appropriately, the Hot Topic main stage.
As you’ll see in the video … Matt and Nick Jackson talked about making Being the Elite and the recent cease and desist they got from WWE. Plus, Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels discuss the comic book they made and how it feels to be veterans in the ROH locker room.
Don’t worry, we also asked Fale about what he did to Daryl Takahashi.
The Bullet Club celebrated Halloween in a pretty special way at this morning’s NJPW Road to Power Struggle show.
Prior to their match against CHAOS, the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega hit the ring with Chase Owens and “The Villain” Marty Scurll rocking some pretty elaborate costumes from the classic Disney animated movie Aladdin. You can check out the videos and photos below, but let’s just say things got weird. Kenny came out as Princess Jasmine, he kissed Street Rat Scurll, Will Ospreay ripped his top off revealing imaginary breasts… There were monkeys, Genies, a flying carpet; we’re just feeling a lot of very strange, conflicting emotions right now.
We noted before that WWE has not announced much for tonight’s episode of Monday Night Raw but we do know of some names that are backstage at the show. PWInsider is reporting that Bray Wyatt is backstage so that means that he is cleared from his illness. There’ s no word what he is doing […]
As recently reported, WWE has announced that both Raw and SmackDown Live stars are scheduled to appear on the 25th Anniversary of Raw on Monday, January 22. In addition, the Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are also scheduled to appear. The Barclays Center, which will host this episode of Raw, recently posted a picture of people WWE is promoting to […]
Another source (Sportskeeda) has read the tea leaves from the official WWE preview for tonight’s Raw hinting at someone challenging Kane tonight to predict the return of Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men has been advertised at the venue for a while, and was only written off eight days ago at TLC via garbage truck. With The Big Red Monster only around for a short time due to his Tennessee Mayoral campaign – and the need for star power – WWE may not want to prolong his absence for storyline injuries.
Which of these Superstars will be back tonight? What will they be doing? Join us at 8PM Eastern in the live blog to find out!
MAIN EVENT SIGNED FOR ROH ELITE IN FT. LAUDERDALE The Road to Final Battle goes through Florida as Ring of Honor Elite comes to Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, November 11! The night will be centered around the event’s namesake, The Elite, the trio of IWGP United States Champion Kenny Omega and two-thirds of the ROH […]
Sasha Banks Pays Homage to the nWo Current Raw women’s star Sasha Banks recently posted a picture of paying homage to the nWo by wearing a pumpkin-colored throwback jacket. Banks commented, “Survey says: one more for the bad guys.” You can view the photo below. Sasha Banks Sends ‘Thank You’ To Recently-Released WWE Stars As reported, WWE […]
In case you missed it, last week Randy Orton took a (no reason to assume it wasn’t friendly) jab at Kevin Owens’ diet and physique on his Instagram. Rusev, because making troll-y, smart-@$$ social media comments about everything seems to be (an awesome) part of his act these days, chimed in as well. Find that here.
What I missed was KO’s own comment in response to The Viper’s joke.
It serves to remind all of us that Kev does not need wrestling fans, or anyone, to fight his battles for him:
Well done, Team Blue. Personally, I enjoyed this whole exchange even more than the invasion #UnderSiege.
WWE Survivor Series is just around the corner and most of the card is set but house show lineups for December have been released and some of the matches give us a better idea of what WWE has planned for the next Smackdown-branded show. As we previously noted here on the site, AJ Styles vs. […]
After the Raw roster was pulverized by dozens of Superstars from the Smackdown brand last week, the Monday night crew will be getting a much-needed shot in the arm this week it appears.
According to PWInsider.com, Samoa Joe is backstage at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland which is the site for tonight’s Raw. The former NXT Champion has been off television since SummerSlam healing up from multiple injuries. It’s expected that he will be added to Team Raw to join in the fight against Smackdown heading into next month’s big Survivor Series pay-per-view. We’ll keep you posted.
There’s another name expected back tonight for Monday Night Raw. PWInsider is reporting that Samoa Joe is in Baltimore for tonight’s show. Joe has been out of action with knee issues. The knee issues were bothering him throughout his time in NXT but he worked through it. He also noted in an interview that he […]
Flair said; ““Going forward, I want people to take my advice as opposed to wanting to be or act like me.There’s a lot of 20-year-old kids that want to be Ric Flair. That’s cool if it’s in a good context. But if it’s drinking to relieve stress or cope with life, that’s not the answer.”
He also spoke about his vow to not drink again after his recent illness, with the article stating his medical bills hit the one million mark.
““I wouldn’t even begin to think about drinking. If you ever hear that I’m out drinking again, say, ‘Ric, you (dummy), you deserve whatever you get.’”
Big Cass Set For Jets Game
WWE has announced that Big Cass will be making an appearance at the upcoming New York Jets game on 11/2. They are set to face Buffalo Bills and tickets are now available.
According to PWInsider.com, Roman Reigns will not be appearing on tonight’s episode of WWE Raw as the “Big Dog” is still recovering from the illness that has taken him, Bray Wyatt, Bo Dallas and ring announcer JoJo off the road for the past several weeks.
Company officials are hopefully that Reigns will be back in action before Survivor Series, and it’s likely creative will be holding a position open for him with several contingencies in place just in case. He will unfortunately not be a part of the WWE European tour that kicks off this week and will span two weeks and more than seven different countries.
Halloween is tomorrow. If wacky and/or scary costumes are your thing… mazel tov! Enjoy the holiday! If not, well… we’ll try to keep the posts about wrestlers playing dress up to a reasonable level here at Cageside.
But we couldn’t pass on sharing some inspired Bullet Club group cosplay from this weekend’s New Japan Road to Power Struggle show. Even the biggest Halloween Scrooge (does Halloween have a Scrooge? Probably doesn’t need one – I bet Ebenezer hated All Hallows’ Eve as much as Christmas) has to crack a bit of a smile for Marty Scurrl’s Aladdin using a gravy boat from his mother’s silver to summon Chase Owens Genie.
And of course for IWGP United States champion Kenny Omega as Princess Jasmine:
Of course if you hate The Bullet Club and Halloween, this could be the worst thing you’ve ever seen. They lost to YOSHI-HASHI, Will Ospreay and Beretta, if that helps. We’ll just assume Ospreay was Jafar.
Tonight, this week’s edition of WWE Raw is airing live from The Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.
No matches have been announced for tonight, but the show will feature fallout from last week’s “Undersiege” invasion by the Smackdown roster.
More names are also expected to be revealed for the 5 on 5 elimination matches taking place at WWE Survivor Series.
While nothing has been announced, Braun Strowman is being advertised for Raw tonight so it’s possible he could be making his WWE TV return. Additionally, we reported yesterday that Nia Jax is expected to be backstage at Raw today so it’s possible she could be making her TV return as well.
WWE.com is hyping the following story line points for tonight:
-How will Raw respond to #UnderSiege?
-Who will join the Raw Men and Women’s Traditional Survivor Series Teams?
-Will the current Raw titleholders still be in place for their Champion vs. Champion Matches at Survivor Series?
-Will Elias still be singing a new tune?
-Who will be next to dare to step up to Kane?
Be sure to join us tonight at 8pm EST for complete, LIVE coverage of WWE Raw!
The wrestling web got a whiff of it first, and WWE’s given more details about what they have planned for the 25th anniversary of their flagship program on Jan. 22, 2018 in New York.
While the main broadcast will emanate from Barclays Center in Brooklyn as previously reported, the company will also return to the site of the first ever Raw. In addition to matches taking place at both locations – featuring stars from both main roster brands – a number of Legends will appear at The Manhattan Center.
One of those Legends is technically still active. The Undertaker will be making his first scheduled appearance since a WrestleMania 33 loss to Roman Reigns. That match was interpreted by many as being his final one due to The Dead Man leaving his hat, duster and gloves in the ring and breaking kayfabe to acknowledge his family to close the show in Orlando. Is showing up here a sign he’s not done?
Taker, who according to posts on WWE.com and in The New York Post, is set to appear on Jan. 22 with Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash and others, has been the subject of a lot of rumors and could return sooner. But whether he does or not, showing up on the Royal Rumble ‘go home’ show at the start of the road to WrestleMania 34 will lead to a lot of speculation about his future.
Broadcasting from two locations will also remind fan of another ‘Mania. WWE brought the second edition of their biggest event to screens from three separate cities. While this won’t be as big a deal as WrestleMania II, expect fireworks from Barclays and The Manhattan Center.
The Undertaker hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since WrestleMania 33 when he lost to Roman Reigns in the main event of the show. We were left to assume that he retired from the ring. However, the door is open for him to wrestle again because he never confirmed his retirement and the announcers have […]
Tonight’s WWE Raw will broadcast live from Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore.
There are no matches advertised in advance of tonight’s episode but we can expect a follow up on last week’s "Under Siege" attack from the SmackDown Live roster. We’ll also no doubt have more matches announced for Survivor Series.
WWE issued the following press release to us: WWE® TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF RAW® LIVE ON USA NETWORK ON JANUARY 22 TICKETS AVAILABLE THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3 STAMFORD, Conn., October 30, 2017 – The 25th anniversary of Monday Night Raw® will emanate from Barclays Center and Manhattan Center in New York City on Monday, January 22, 2018, and air live on […]
PROGRESS Wrestling, Chapter 56 took place yesterday in Camden, London. The action-packed show featured three title matches and a surprise debut from WWE UK Championship competitor, Joseph Conners.
The show opened up with British Strong Style and Pete Dunne apologizing to the fans for his actions, working as a babyface turn for the group. Following the promo, the Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) came out and confronted the trio.
With Moustache Mountain chasing the pair away, Conners made his PROGRESS Wrestling debut, attacking Dunne from behind.
PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 56: Match Results
(1) Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) & Omari def. Connor Mills & Never Say Die (Alex Cupid & Dillon D’Angelo
(2) Strangler Davis def. Timothy Thatcher
(3) Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) def. Chris Brookes & Jimmy Havoc (w/Kid Lykos)
Last Tuesday came and went, as did the rumors that Team Red would “invade” SmackDown in retaliation for Shane McMahon bringing his roster to Green Bay in order to place Raw “under siege”.
For logistical reasons, signs point to that physical return fire not happening until the Survivor Series ‘go home’ show on Nov. 14. Both groups will leave their television filming this week and hop on planes for the United Kingdom and Europe tour, where next weeks shows will be shot and aired here in the States on tape delay. The blue brand will have a house show during Raw’s taping on Monday, and vice versa.
So, how will WWE build to a dual brand pay-per-view (PPV) built around matches between people who won’t be on our screens together?
Other than teasing the invasion for a couple weeks, they’ll continue building the five-on-five traditional Survivor Series teams. General Manager Kurt Angle was just about to name the men who would be on Team Red when Shane came through the crowd last Monday. Will Kurt finish his announcement tonight? Will that involve competition for spots? Will Women’s captain Alicia Fox get to select her squad, or will Angle assign her four teammates?
A more interesting question – and one we’re bound to get some answers for – is how the Raw roster will react to what happened to them in Wisconsin. Team Blue was happy to gloat about their successful attack on social media and from their own Milwaukee show, but we haven’t heard a whole lot from those who caught beatings… or those who ran away.
The Monday night crew fires back, verbally if not physically, this week.
The title scene
He’s not advertised for Bmore, and he’s not likely to ally himself with the rest of Team Red. Based on the promo his advocate cut last week mocking his Survivor Series opponent, Universal titleholder Brock Lesnar probably isn’t too worried about WWE champ Jinder Mahal, either. So we’ll just assume he’s hunting or doing other manly things on his Canadian farm.
Tag team champions Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins were on the front lines of last week’s siege, but were left laying just like everyone else. The intra-brand rival The Usos didn’t participate in the attack, but that probably isn’t going to save them from the wrath of The Lunatic Fringe and The Kingslayer.
One of the Raw stars who has fired back at Team Blue is Intercontinental champ The Miz. The A-Lister wasn’t around after two nights of losses to Ambrose, Rollins and various replacement partners, but his scheduled PPV opponent, United States champion Baron Corbin, was front and center for the backstage beatdown. The Lone Wolf might be trying to figure out how to respond to Miz’s verbal assault right now, though.
Despite her best efforts to dismiss Mickie James after beating her at TLC, it doesn’t look like Women’s titleholder Alexa Bliss is going to be able to put Hardcore Country in her review. And without Emma to kick around any more, newcomer Asuka may be gunning for the belt. All that is before The Goddess can even start worrying about her SmackDown counterpart, Natalya…
One group which seems to exist above, or at least beside, the battle for brand supremacy is the 205 Live roster. They have be headed toward their own intra-show affair, however, now that Cruiserweightchamp Enzo Amore has picked up some allies and the other Tuesday night show takes on a more traditional heels vs. faces look after a couple months of Zo vs. The World.
Other stuff to keep an eye on:
– After being embarrassed (in more ways than one) by Jason Jordan at TLC, Elias fired back with a guitar shot last Monday. Jordan was a target of his old tag team partner Chad Gable in the show-closing attack, so he’s probably pretty banged up… but that likely won’t stop his program with The Drifter.
– Who knows what’s going on with Finn Bálor, who was the physical embodiment of 50/50 booking last week. The man who beat him on Monday, Kane, is probably going to be the latest legendary big man to give Braun Strowman the rub, though. So good on Finn for helping the cause while he waits from Bray Wyatt to return from viral infection, I guess? Now when does Strowman return from being compacted in a garbage truck to get revenge on The Devil’s Favorite Demon?
– Former Women’s champs Sasha Banks and Bayley were upset by Foxy to in the Triple Threat to determine the Survivor Series captain… are they going to have to team with her now?
– How will Vince McMahon leave an opening for Roman Reigns to return on Nov. 19, provided he’s healthy enough to do so?
The following results are from Kamikaze Pro Bank On It! 5 at the Meadway Sports & Social, Stechford, Birmingham, England on October 29th, 2017: Star Talent (Jack Starz & Chris Tyler) defeated Already Famous (Scott Gibson & Toby Clements) by pinfall. El Phantasmo defeated The Elliot Jordan Experience by pinfall. Bank On It Ladder Match – Kay Jutler…
Here’s your “Daily Open Thread” for Oct. 30, 2017. Come chat about whatever you would like. Come back all day and night for discussion of all things pro wrestling and beyond, some of the former but much more of the latter. Basically, this is the spot to yak about anything related to anything other than pro wrestling.
Don’t forget to check out everything else we have going on here at Cageside today. Keep checking that front page for content throughout the day, but for now, scroll on down to the comments and talk about whatever your heart desires.
Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as legitimate news or fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
Triple H gave the pay he received for working WWE’s house show in Chile on Oct. 22 to Kevin Owens, according to The Wrestling Observer.
PWInsider reported over the weekend that New Japan announcer Don Callis, Tessa Blanchard and Sami Callihan will start for Impact at Bound for Glory or the tapings after the PPV, and that the company is talking to Ricochet.
Callis denied he’s leaving New Japan, however. The Observer says Anthem officials denied they have a deal with Blanchard, and their sources say Ricochet turned Impact down.
An announcement about WrestleMania 35’s location could be made in December, and there’s talk of Detroit as a finalist along with Philadelphia and New York.
Nia Jax should be at Raw tonight, says PWInsider.
If you have heard of any interesting rumors that you’d like to add, feel free to post them in the comments section below. Just remember they are rumors and not confirmed as fact, so please take them as such. Have fun with it.
WWE Monday Night Raw comes waltzing back into our lives tonight (Oct. 30, 2017) from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, featuring more build to Survivor Series, and maybe a pre-Halloween scare or two.
Advertised for tonight: the Raw Superstars react to SmackDown’s attack last week, and more!
Come right back here at 8 p.m. ET when the Raw live blog kicks off once the show starts on USA. It will be below this line here. (REMINDER: NO GIFS OR PICS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COMMENTS SECTION. OFFENDERS WILL BE BANNED.)
Stan Lee‘s Comic Con took place in Los Angeles this weekend and it featured a panel with The Young Bucks and The Addiction … WHICH ENDED IN CHAOS!!!
The interview was moderated by Wrestling Sheet Radio co-host Jamie Iovine, as well as Editor-in-Chief Ryan Satin, and “The Underboss” Bad Luck Fale was also in attendance.
We’ll have the full panel video up in the morning, but the end of things had to be seen.
The brawl kicked off after The Addiction taunted the Bucks with Too Sweet hand gestures and the brothers eventually got the upper-hand with superkicks. Christopher Daniels was then powerbombed through a table and Frankie Kazarian got hit with an Indytaker on the stage.
Watch the clip below (and remember to check back in the morning for the full panel video).
Intercontinental Champion The Miz just set Twitter on fire with a brutal, scathing promo digging in to United States Champion Baron Corbin, who he is set to face at WWE Survivor Series next month.
You can check out the video at this link (sorry, we’re having trouble with tweets not displaying on our website properly) and a transcript of the promo below.
“Baron Corbin, I just got your message! I’ve been really busy this week, but I gotta say it’s the best promo I’ve ever seen you cut. It’s amazing because when I cut my best promos, it’s in front of thousands in attendance and millions watching at home, on a big camera in a WWE ring, while your best promo is on an iPhone on social media. So listen up Twitter tough guy, this isn’t about Raw and Smackdown supremacy for me. This is about making the Intercontinental Championship the most prestigious and honorable title in all the WWE. I bust my ass day in, and day out to make that title relevant, while the United States Championship is working overtime to make its holder relevant. See I’ve heard all about you, and how talented you are, but to me you’re just another generic big man who will be gone in two years, while I’m carrying this show for the next ten. And if you ever talk about my pregnant wife again, I’ll knock your f—ing teeth down your throat!”
Miz’s angry rant was in response to a video Baron Corbin posted on Twitter last week, after the entire Smackdown roster invaded Monday Night Raw and laid waste to the red brand Superstars.
It’s tough being on the road and staying in shape. Randy Orton was on Edge and Christian’s podcast a few weeks ago and talked about how his metabolism is slowing down and he needs to work harder to stay in shape. But sometimes you have to treat yourself and that’s what Orton did this week […]
The Lone Wolf’s was directed at his Survivor Series opponent, Intercontinental titleholder The Miz. It took The A-Lister a while to respond (something he works into his online response for a nice helping of opening shade). But needing to unleash some frustration after his beloved Cleveland Browns dropped to 0 – 8, Miz got around to firing back…
“Baron Corbin! I just got your message. I’ve been really busy this week. But I’ve gotta say – it’s the best promo I’ve ever seen you cut. It’s amazing because when I cut my best promos? It’s in front of thousands in attendance and millions watching at home on a big camera in a WWE ring. While your best promo is on an iPhone on social media. So listen up, Twitter tough guy.

PWInsider.com is reporting that WWE Superstar Nia Jax is expected to make her return to the company on this coming Monday night’s edition of Raw.
